About the name + inspiration:
Lodoicea, coco de mer, is renowned for producing the largest + heaviest seeds in the world. It was believed by many to grow on a mythical tree at the bottom of the sea. European nobles in the 16th century had the shells of these nuts polished + decorated for their private galleries.
A resilient seed that travels through seas before germination + bloom. I was inspired to create a piece during this winter season to symbolize resilience + blooming in the seasons to come.
